The Lupus Research Alliance has shared a statement following Halsey‘s revelation that she has Lupus.

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) expresses deep appreciation to the renowned singer and songwriter Halsey on sharing two powerful Instagram posts (June 4 and June 5) about their diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Halsey released yesterday on Instagram a new song, The End, expressing their challenges and tagging the Lupus Research Alliance. Their candor elevates the conversation to shine a spotlight on a serious autoimmune disease that is often overlooked and misdiagnosed.

“The Lupus Research Alliance commends Halsey’s courage in using their platform to raise awareness and support for much-needed research to find new treatments and diagnostics for a disease that affects each person differently,” noted Albert T. Roy, President and CEO of the Lupus Research Alliance. “This is an extremely hopeful time in lupus with many potential therapies in development.”

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. More than 90 percent of people with lupus are women, often striking during the childbearing years of 15-45. Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and Asian/Pacific Islander people are disproportionately affected by lupus and are more likely to experience severe lupus symptoms. In lupus, the immune system, meant to defend against infections, produces antibodies that mistakenly recognize the body’s own cells as foreign, prompting other immune cells to attack and potentially damage organs such as the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs, blood, skin, and joints.

The highly complex autoimmune disease affects millions worldwide, with symptoms that can vary widely from person to person and change over time. The LRA strongly recommends speaking to a healthcare provider if you have these most common symptoms: extreme fatigue, skin rashes, joint pain, and/or unexplained fevers.

Halsey took to Instagram earlier to thank fans for the “unbelievable amount of love” and “support” that has been shown for her new song, ‘The End.’ She also shared that she was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022, which are both currently being managed or in remission. She understands she will likely have these for the duration of her life and is currently feeling better. Check out her post below:

With the release of her new song, ‘The End,’ Halsey has implied she has Lupus and Leukaemia or lymphoma, as she tagged the Lupus Research and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society accounts. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that makes your immune system damage the organs and tissue throughout your body [x], and Leukaemia and lymphoma are types of blood cancer that affect the bone marrow, lymphatic system [x], and immune system. [x]

‘The End’ is about Halsey’s life with chronic illness. Check out Halsey’s post below, which includes photos and videos of her during treatment and album progress, as well as the new song below, which is also available to stream.

New stickers have been released on formylasttrick.com, including a letter which reveals an upcoming single called ‘The End,’ which will be released on June 4th. It is a special single that serves as a precursor to the album, before its official singles are released. The letter also suggests a 70s theme.

Hello, it’s Halsey. It’s been a while.

As you may have guessed, I have written a new album. But I needed some time to figure out how to say what I needed to say. You see, I’ve been holding [redacted] and I need to let it all out.

There’s so much I am going to reveal on this record, but you need to know some of the story first. So before the chaos and confetti of big singles and album releases I just need to tell you, my friend, why it all matters this time. I’m releasing a new song on June 4. It’s just for us.

JUNE 7:1

On May 11th, Halsey and Avan Jogia attended the 2024 Gold Gala hosted by Gold House at the Music Center in Los Angeles. 65 photos were added to the gallery.
