On September 1st, Halsey and Avan Jogia attended the red carpet for “The Smashing Machine” during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

While there, Halsey bid $585,000 for a custom portrait of herself by filmmaker Julian Schnabel, the proceeds of which will be donated towards research for HIV and AIDS. “I own seven of his works already. He is my favorite living artist,” Halsey told Variety while she waited for a water taxi to leave the event. “As soon as I found out that it was a personalized commission, I knew I was going to bid all the way.”
Halsey has a personal connection to the charity work done by AmfAR. She was diagnosed in 2022 with the autoimmune disease lupus and a t-cell leukemia disorder — and those conditions, too, benefit from the research funded by AmfAR, she said. “It was a full circle moment. I had to make this come to life. So I’m feeling on top of the world.”
For now, she remains undecided on where she’ll display her new work of art. “I don’t know yet, but I’m hoping I’m going hang it for a long time,” she said. “I have a 4-year-old son, so I’m constantly thinking about my legacy. I know this will be a very important one.”
Halsey and Avan Jogia were spotted arriving in Venice, Italy on August 30th ahead of the screening of “How to Shoot a Ghost,” a short film they executive produced, at Venice Film Festival on Monday, September 1st.
On her Instagram stories, Halsey reshared bymarinamay‘s artwork of How to Shoot a Ghost, a film produced by Halsey, Avan Jogia, and her manager Anthony Li, which will be premiering at Venice Film Festival on September 1st, 2025. The 27-minute short is directed by Charlie Kaufman and stars Jessie Buckley and Josef Akiki. It follows two newly dead young people who meet on the streets of Athens, Greece.
Halsey and Avan Jogia were spotted out for breakfast with their dog on July 25th in Los Angeles.
Halsey has been preparing for the 10th anniversary of her first studio album, Badlands, which was released on August 28th, 2015. She reblogged a post (see here) of images from that era on Tumblr and posted some on her Instagram (below). Last night, Halsey was even spotted with dyed blue hair while out on a date night with Avan Jogia in Hollywood. What does she have planned for us?!

Avan Jogia has kicked off his book tour for his new poetry book, Autopsy (Of an Ex-Teen Heartthrob), beginning at The Strand Book Store in New York. Halsey was in attendance to support him, dressed in a Mad Alice in Wonderland-inspired outfit. Avan’s book is out now in the US but comes out on March 13th in the UK.
